Love Hurts, But Fear Hurts More: Open Up and Bloom
It takes courage to love, but pain through love is the purifying fire which those who love generously know. We all know people who are so much afraid of pain that they shut themselves up like clams in a shell and, giving out nothing, receive nothing and therefore shrink until life is a mere living death. –Eleanor Roosevelt
This quote from Eleanor Roosevelt says to be a fighter for what’s right, knew love wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows. She said something wise: loving deeply takes guts, but it’s worth it. Why? Because just like fire purifies, love’s challenges make us stronger and kinder.
But some folks fear getting burned, so they shut themselves off, like clams hiding in their shells. They miss out on sharing and receiving love, which can leave them feeling lonely and empty. It’s true: fearing pain can shrink your life down to a tiny, sad shadow.
Roosevelt says don’t do that! Stepping outside your comfort zone lets you connect with others in a deeper way. Sure, there might be hiccups, but the happiness and growth you gain are way bigger than the risks.
Remember, love also means the chance to grow and make your life richer and more exciting. Like Roosevelt said, “Believe in the beauty of your dreams,” and believe in the beauty of love too! It’ll make your life blossom.
